Description
You
will awaken to the aroma of fresh coffee brewing and breakfast in the
making. The group will then be ushered to one of many roosting fields to
begin a day of hunting. From there it is on to
loafing cover and grain fields for the mid-morning hunt.
"Townsend Outdoors takes pride in offering the
sportsman upland bird hunting the way that it was meant to
be."
Commencing the morning hunt will be
your choice of lunch afield or at the nearest restaurant for some down-home
food and service. The afternoon leaves us with a variety of choices. Those with
pheasant limits may choose to split from the group for an afternoon of
very challenging shooting for bobwhite quail and greater prairie chickens.
The Native Upland Grand Slam is a common event on our hunting
grounds. All hunts are conducted on leased private property, most of which we
have had exclusive access to for over ten years. With cooperative farming practices,
we have effectively managed our habitat to offer you strictly wild,
native bird hunts. We pride ourselves on the fact that we have never
supplemented our grounds with any pen raised birds. We are only able to
offer this to the hunter because of the vast amount of property we have under
lease. Our hunts are rotated in a manner that prevents us from over hunting
any one area. The result is one of the finest and purist wild upland experiences
found anywhere. Terrain used for our hunts varies greatly from flat grain fields
to rolling hills reminiscent of eastern Montana. You can expect to see
whitetail deer, mule deer, and coyotes in a day of
hunting.
The physically fit hunter will have some advantage.
Conversely, those with a little too much city time under their belts will have no problem getting
their fair share of the action. All hunts are conducted over well trained
pointing and flushing dogs. We have two Labradors who are old pros with
over five hundred days afield each. We also welcome you to bring your own
well trained dogs. If group hunting is not your forte, we can provide you
and your dog a few hundred acres a day to work with.
Safety comes first at
Townsend Outdoors with all hunters required to wear hunter orange. A daily
safety speech is an important part of our program.
Days
end finds our guests back at the farmhouse, reliving the day, enjoying a preferred
refreshment, gazing at another spectacular Nebraska sunset.
Dinner is an event, with
meals ranging from pheasant fajitas to elk-kabobs.
Our goal is to give you,
the discretionary hunter, the finest traditional upland experience
available at a reasonable rate. We welcome you to come join the
fun!
